On a daily basis the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto combines the scientific and research work it does on its collections with an array of targeted activities aimed at enhancing the value of its items and at providing teaching and training experiences for all types of public thus becoming a vital and inclusive hub which dispenses emotions while communicating culture.

The Educational Service of the Museum designs and implements workshops as well as advanced themed and educational itineraries of different duration to further expand the cultural offer of the Museum while ensuring the best response to the different needs of the public.


The MArTA is an ideal place to spend time with your family. There are dedicated areas for children along the exhibition itineraries.

Younger visitors can take guided themed tours, animated tours and participate in multi-sensory laboratories.

The MArTA is happy to host school groups on educational visits. Pursuant to current Italian legislation, admission to the Museum is free for students and their accompanying teachers. Teachers shall come with a list of their students and their principal’s authorization for the visit.

Qualified facilitators specializing in archaeology provide hands-on creative laboratories, exploration and discovery games, interactive and dramatized animated tours and orientation sessions for guided tours. All the activities are carried out in a simple and correct language. The playful forms of communication used make the visits unique and provide stimulating learning experiences.

Upon request, these activities are also available in foreign languages and can be followed by students with special needs.

Visitors with special mobility needs can visit all the museum’s spaces through ramps and lifts (the ramp on the second floor is accessible by contacting the reception staff). Wheelchair-accessible toilets are located on the ground floor and on the first floor. A wheelchair is also available at the entrance.

Tactile itineraries and sessions for the blind and visually impaired are run by specialized personnel. They are available upon booking from Mondays to Fridays or during special events.

The Museum offers a guided tour of the exhibition in foreign language to those who do not have it and who request it beforehand.

The explanatory panels along the route are all translated into English.

Groups (minimum 3 – maximum 15 people) can organize their visit to the Marta only by contacting the email address info@shopmuseomarta.it

In order to provide visitors and collections with adequate security against the COVID-19 virus, the halls are allowed to enter groups of up to 15 people.

Admission to the museum is free for all qualified tourist guides from Italy and Europe.
